Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius was the emperor of Rome from 161 – 180 CE. He recorded aphorisms and reflections on stoicism in his personal papers, later commonly referred to by scholars as the Meditations. His reign is often considered as the end of the Pax Romana. This timeline features his philosophical influences and personal experiences, both of which shaped his reflections.
